From Engineering Roots to a Multidisciplinary Firm
The origins of The Eden Group trace back to 1982, when Joseph T. Eden, PE, became a licensed engineer and founded Hillside Engineering, a firm focused on providing civil and structural engineering services throughout Southern California. Over time, Hillside Engineering developed a strong reputation for delivering practical, buildable engineering solutions for developers, architects, contractors, and public agencies.
In 2004, Joseph’s son, Wissam Takieddine, began working at Hillside Engineering, gaining early hands-on experience in engineering design, project coordination, and construction processes. During this time, Wissam went on to study Construction Management, further developing the technical and operational expertise that would later shape the company’s expanded services. Through this experience, he recognized a significant gap in coordination between design disciplines, engineering teams, and construction within the industry, which often created inefficiencies during project delivery.
Wissam also recognized that the name Hillside Engineering, while well established, limited the perception of the firm’s capabilities by focusing primarily on hillside projects and engineering alone. To reflect a broader vision and a more integrated approach to project delivery, he developed the concept and branding for The Eden Group.
In 2012, Wissam Takieddine and Joseph T. Eden formally founded The Eden Group, expanding the firm’s services to include integrated civil and structural engineering, design, MEP engineering, and construction management. Building on decades of engineering experience, the firm continues its commitment to delivering technically sound solutions that are practical for real-world construction while helping clients move projects efficiently from concept through completion.

Hillside Engineering Founded
Joseph T. Eden, PE, became a licensed engineer and founded Hillside Engineering, providing civil and structural engineering services throughout Southern California.
1997
Early Exposure to Construction
During the construction of the United Nations headquarters building in Beirut, where Joseph T. Eden was contracted to assist in the management of the building’s construction, Wissam Takieddine was introduced to the construction industry at an early age.
2004
Next Generation Joins the Firm
Wissam Takieddine began working at Hillside Engineering, gaining hands-on experience in engineering design, project coordination, and construction while later studying Construction Management.
2012
The Eden Group Established
Wissam Takieddine and Joseph T. Eden, PE founded The Eden Group, expanding services to include integrated design, civil and structural engineering, MEP engineering, and construction management.
2019
Mountain Division Office Opened
The Eden Group opened its Big Bear Lake, California office, establishing a dedicated Mountain Division to support hillside and mountain development projects.
2025
Expansion to the Middle East
The Eden Group expanded its services internationally to support projects in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and the rebuilding of Syria, bringing its integrated engineering expertise to new markets.
